Let's Go to the Peninsula!

Getting ready for PNW Nude

Important Info

  • We will leave from at our home in SE Portland at 1pm on October 16th (13048 SE Evergreen St. Portland, OR 97236). We will be driving a large van with a waterproof carrier on the top for suitcases; please keep personal items to a minimum so we have space inside for camera bags! If you prefer to drive separately, you are welcome to meet us in Forks, WA at 7pm on the 16th. We will be staying at the Woodland Inns, in individual cabins: 711 S. Forks Ave., Forks, WA 98331
  • All of your food once you are with us is covered. Please eat lunch before you meet us on the 16th because we will have a long drive ahead of us (roughly 5hr). We will be getting an early dinner after we check in. Please let us know if you have any food allergies or restrictions!
  • The cabins are equipped with a small kitchen, and we will provide oatmeal and fruit for breakfast. Corwin will also be making hot coffee for everyone in the morning :)
  • The food options in Forks are limited. The best place to eat closes at 7pm so expect early dinners and pizza/pasta/salad options for lunch.
  • After check-in and dinner we will have a small get-together about how the rest of the week will proceed, with expectations, goals and ground rules.
  • If you have trouble finding us the morning of departure or have any further questions, Corwin's number is 717-395-6840
  • We will be going out to shoot everyday, rain or shine, so please carefully read over the following What to Pack list!

What to Pack

Prepare for the worst weather! We will try to avoid it but we will be shooting outside everyday, rain or shine. The usual temperature for the Peninsula in October is 40s/50s and the and the rain can be very heavy. Waterproof gear and clothes are a necessity.

  • Warm clothing (think layers): sweaters or long sleeves with a hooded rain jacket, plus waterproof shoes, boots, and pants! The taller the boot the more varied your angles can be!
  • Thin gloves to protect & warm your hands while shooting.
  • Camera: DSLR or Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera or Film Camera. If possible, it’s a good idea to have two so that you have a backup.
  • Lenses: we recommend a wide angle zoom (like a 17-40mm or a 24-70mm) and a telephoto zoom (like a 70-200mm) to get the most varied points of view. The speed at which we have to shoot (for models' comfort) and the dense terrain can make reframing a shot difficult.
  • Memory Cards / Film: bring more than you think you need, and then some!
  • Batteries & chargers.
  • A laptop with your preference of editing software: Lightroom, Camera Raw, Photoshop
  • Hard drives to back up your images
  • Lens Hoods: helps keep water off the front element and sun off the lens.
  • Lens cloths: the more the better!
  • Backpack style camera bag: either waterproof or with a waterproof cover.
  • Camera poncho: did we mention the rain and wind? :)
  • Tripod: for long exposures and landscapes
  • Filters: neutral density, polarizing, etc.
  • Model releases: we do not provide them so please bring your own if desired!

    Please DO NOT Bring:

    • drones. They alert tourists as to our location!
    • lights & light stands. The overcast sky of the Pacific Northwest functions as a giant soft box, plus they are slow and we don't want models to pose for longer than they have to!
